How to connect Paystack to your store

Step-by-step guide to linking Paystack so customers can pay with cards, bank transfer, and USSD on your Oshop247 storefront.

Paystack is one of the most popular payment gateways for Nigerian online stores. Connecting it to Oshop247 lets customers pay by card, bank transfer, or USSD at checkout — with automatic order confirmation and email receipts.

This guide assumes you already have a Paystack business account. If not, sign up at paystack.com and complete business verification first.

Before you start

  • Admin access to your Oshop247 store (owner or staff with manage settings permission)
  • Paystack account with KYC completed for live payments
  • Store currency set to NGN under Settings → General (Paystack settles in naira)

Step 1 — Copy your Paystack API keys

  1. Log in to your Paystack Dashboard
  2. Go to Settings → API Keys & Webhooks
  3. You will see Test and Live key pairs
  4. Copy the Public Key and Secret Key for the environment you are configuring

Use test keys while building and testing. Switch to live keys only when you are ready to accept real customer money.

Step 2 — Add keys in Oshop247

  1. Open your store admin
  2. Go to Settings in the sidebar
  3. Open the Payments tab
  4. Find the Paystack section
  5. Paste your Public Key and Secret Key
  6. Enable Paystack using the toggle
  7. Click Save

Secret keys are masked after saving. Leave the field unchanged on future saves unless you are rotating keys.

Step 3 — Test your connection

On the same Payments tab, click Test Paystack (if available). This verifies your secret key without placing a full customer order.

Then run a real checkout test:

  1. Open your storefront in a private browser tab
  2. Add a low-priced product to cart
  3. Complete checkout with Paystack test card details (from Paystack docs)
  4. Confirm the order appears as paid in Admin → Orders

Step 4 — Enable other payment options (optional)

On Settings → Payments you can also enable:

  • Flutterwave — second gateway option for customers who prefer it
  • Bank transfer — manual instructions for customers who pay offline
  • Cash on delivery — if you deliver and collect in person

Most online-first stores rely on Paystack for instant confirmation; COD is optional for local delivery businesses.

Step 5 — Go live

  1. Replace test keys with live keys in Settings → Payments
  2. Save and run one small real transaction (โ‚ฆ100–โ‚ฆ500)
  3. Check Paystack dashboard for settlement
  4. Confirm the order and receipt email in Oshop247

Troubleshooting

  • Payment succeeds but order stays pending — verify you used the correct key mode (test vs live) and that Paystack webhooks can reach your store URL
  • Customers see an error at checkout — confirm Paystack toggle is enabled and keys are not swapped (public vs secret)
  • Wrong currency — Paystack NGN requires naira pricing on products
Never share your secret key in WhatsApp groups or email. Treat it like your bank PIN.
