Oshop247 Now Supports Multi-Currency: Sell Across Africa

Display and settle in NGN, GHS, KES, USD, GBP and more — built for diaspora customers and cross-border African e-commerce.

African e-commerce is cross-border by nature. A Lagos fashion brand sells to aunties in London. A Accra skincare line ships to Nigerians in Abuja. A Kenyan coffee merchant wants USD pricing for tourists but KES settlement locally.

We built multi-currency support on Oshop247 so you can show customers prices in familiar currencies while keeping your books understandable in your home currency.

What multi-currency solves

  • Diaspora buyers see GBP or USD instead of mentally converting from naira
  • Regional expansion — present GHS in Ghana, KES in Kenya on the same platform
  • Trust — local currency symbols reduce "how much is this really?" friction
  • Cleaner checkout — Stripe markets (UK, US, Canada) use native billing where configured

Supported currencies (platform-dependent)

Depending on your plan and market settings, Oshop247 supports display and charging in currencies including:

  • NGN — Nigerian Naira (core market)
  • GHS — Ghanaian Cedi
  • KES — Kenyan Shilling
  • ZAR — South African Rand
  • USD, GBP, CAD — international / diaspora via Stripe-enabled stores

Exact availability follows your subscription plan and country configuration. Check Plans or contact support for your market.

How it works for merchants

  1. Upgrade to a plan that includes multi-currency (where required)
  2. Configure currencies in admin settings
  3. Set product prices in your base currency — conversion/display rules apply per storefront market
  4. Connect appropriate payment gateway (Paystack/Flutterwave for Nigeria; Stripe for UK/US/Canada launch markets)
  5. Test checkout in each currency you target

How it works for customers

Shoppers see prices in the currency associated with their market or selection. Checkout collects payment through the gateway configured for that region. They receive receipts in the charged currency.

Accounting and reconciliation

Multi-currency adds complexity — track settlements per gateway dashboard. NGN Paystack settlements differ from Stripe USD payouts. Reconcile weekly; note FX rates on international invoices for your accountant.

Who should enable this first

  • Brands actively marketing to diaspora on TikTok or Instagram UK/US
  • Merchants with .com traffic outside Nigeria
  • Businesses opening fulfilment partnerships in Ghana or Kenya

If 100% of your customers pay in naira today, master one currency first. Add others when marketing justifies the operational overhead.

Cross-region shipping note

By default, shipping destinations follow your store's home region. Cross-region delivery (e.g. Nigeria store shipping to UK) may require platform approval — contact support when you are ready to fulfil internationally at scale.

Multi-currency is not just a technical feature — it is a signal that your brand is ready to serve customers wherever they shop.
